Out of stockQuantity:
This elegant Vinho Verde shows fresh aromas of citrus fruits and plenty of mineral notes which come from the vineyards proximity to the ocean. On the palate, it’s vibrant and lively, with a pleasant roundness and a touch of salinity.
Aromas of white grapefruit, flint, Granny Smith apple and petrichor. The palate is electric and intensely zesty, with mouthwatering acidity framing flavours of pink grapefruit, white flowers and honeydew.
The grapes for Vinho Verde Branco Quinta de Sanjoanne come from vineyards grown on granitic soils, in the sub-region of Amarante. The wine is a blend of Loureiro and Avesso.
The Maker:
Casa de Cello is a family business that has been dedicated to winemaking for four generations. In the mid 1980s, one of the owners, João Pedro Araujo, decided to focus on vineyard health and new technology to produce quality Vinho Verde — distinct from the light, spritzy, mass-produced white wine styles of the region. Their 14-hectare property is located in the town of Mancelos, in the historic Minho province in the far north of Portugal. Here, the focus is on sustainably growing grapes native to the area, and painstaking care is taken to ensure only the finest fruit from carefully-tended vines is used. Made with minimal intervention, the wines have character, depth and the capacity to evolve over time. Production is limited and both bottling and labelling is done by hand. In the late 1990s the family acquired their second estate, Quinta da Vegia, located southeast of Vinho Verde, in the Dão region.
Food pairing:
A very food-friendly wine, it is a perfect match for oily fish, creamy or tomato-based sauces.
Enjoy fully chilled as an aperitif or chill lightly and serve with summer salads, freshly shucked oysters or grilled sardines.
